iOS 9 brought a useful feature if you have not noticed yet. Known as "facedown detection", your iPhone is able to understand when it is turned upside down and thus prevents ignition of the screen when you receive notifications. This can save more battery if you regularly get reports.
How does facedown detection
Although the technology involved is somewhat complex, our advice is simple. When you place your iPhone on the table top display, its screen will light up automatically every time you get releases. In this case you can take a look without touching the phone notification.
Unless you plan to read the notices on your iPhone when they come, simply place it down on the table. Of course you will still continue to listen to the sound of notices and your phone will continue to tremble. However, when a notification arrives, the screen will not light up. This saves battery.
Before coming iOS 9, the screen of your iPhone to burn whenever you receive notifications, even when the device was turned upside down.
To that iPhone does it feature?
Like many other features in iOS, facedown detection does not work on any iPhone. This unique feature works on iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus, SE iPhone, iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
It does not work in the iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 4S, and older. Also not working on iPad or iPod touch devices.
Facedown detection equipment needs special because it uses "motion coprocessor", which is used for tracking steps. In fact, facedown detection works only if this feature is turned on. If you go to Settings> Privacy> Motion and Fitness and disable the "Fitness Tracking", facedown detection will cease to function and the screen of your iPhone will light up whenever you receive notifications, even when it is down.
This feature was introduced in iOS 9 together with Low Power Mode. Same as Low Power Mode, this feature is designed to save battery. But will save the battery only when your iPhone put down.
